What happens next

  • An engineer reads itGeometry, tolerances, material and finish, against what the network actually runs.
  • Quote plus DFM notesPrice, lead time and the changes worth making. You are free to ignore them.
  • You issue one purchase orderTo us. One invoice, one contact, in your currency.
  • We make, inspect and shipProgress in writing while it runs, an inspection report with the parts.

Who sees your drawing

Us, and the one shop that machines the part. Nobody else, and your company name is not passed on unless you want it to be. Tick the NDA box and the files wait until it is signed. Uploaded files are deleted after 12 months, as set out in the privacy policy.

Checklist before you press send

  • Drawing or 3D modelSTEP for geometry, PDF for tolerances and notes. Both beats either one alone, and name the revision.
  • Material and conditionGrade, temper or heat treat state, and whether an equivalent local grade is acceptable.
  • Quantity and repeatThis order and what you expect per year. The second number changes the unit price more than the first.
  • The tolerances that matterTwo or three critical features, not a blanket ±0.01 mm on every dimension. A blanket tolerance prices like one.
  • Surface finish and coatingRa value, anodising type and colour, plating thickness, or none at all.

  • Piece price and quantity breaksThe price at your quantity and at the next break up, so you can see how much of it is setup.
  • One-off costs, separatelyProgramming, fixtures and first article on their own lines, so a repeat order shows its true price.
  • Lead time with a start pointWorking days from purchase order, and what has to happen before the clock starts.
  • What ships with the partsThe inspection report, plus material certificates where you asked for traceability.
  • Delivery termsThe delivery basis and what is included, stated on the quote rather than discovered at shipment.
  • Payment termsDeposit and balance, and what triggers each one.
  • DFM notesOne or two changes that would take cost out of the part, with what each is worth. Take them or leave them.
