QualityHow we inspect every order before it ships
We are a trading company, which means the shop is our supplier and not yours. The measuring is ours to do and the result is ours to answer for. Four gates, an audit before a shop ever touches your work, an engineer who follows the run, and a report that travels with the parts.
Where an order gets checked
Drawing review before anything is cut
We read the drawing against the process before the job is placed: datum scheme, which features are critical, whether the tolerance is measurable with the equipment the shop has. Problems found here cost an email. Found later they cost a batch.
First article on the production setup
The first pieces come off the fixture, program and machine that will run the batch, and are measured against every dimension on the drawing. A hand made sample proves nothing about the run, so we do not accept one.
Checks during production
Critical features are checked at intervals through the run, not only at the end. The engineer on your order follows the run at the shop, and the in-process results so far go into your weekly progress update, so a dimension that drifts is caught while there is still time to correct it and you see it before the ship date.
Final inspection before packing
Parts are measured again before they are packed. Anything out of tolerance does not go in the box. The report goes in with them.
What ships with your parts
- Inspection reportMeasured values against the critical features on your drawing, not a sheet of ticks.
- Material certificateWhere you asked for traceability. Say so early, because a certified heat is usually an ordered material rather than stock.
- PhotographsOf the packed pallet before it leaves, which settles most damage questions before they start.
- Packing listInside and outside the box, with your purchase order number on it.
Exactly which report is standard on every order is being finalised. Until it is, your quote states what you get rather than this page guessing.
Measurement in the network
- Coordinate measuring machinesFor position, profile, flatness and anything a hand tool cannot prove. Available in the network and specified per job, because not every part needs it and not every shop has one.
- Height gauges, micrometers, bore gaugesThe daily instruments. What matters is that they are calibrated and that someone records the readings.
- Profile projectors and vision systemsSmall features, radii and profiles that are awkward to reach with a probe.
- Surface roughness testersFor Ra callouts. A finish specified on the drawing is measured, not judged by eye.
- Hardness testersWhere a heat treat condition is part of the specification.
A tolerance nobody can measure is a tolerance nobody can prove, which is why the equipment question decides which shop gets your part.
We audit the floor, and we publish the checklist
Machines, measurement equipment and calibration, materials run weekly, export experience, and what the shop does with a part that fails. Then a trial order before anything of yours goes near it.
The checklist is public, so you can see the bar and use it yourself with any supplier, including ones we have never met.
About quality
What inspection comes with an order?
Every order ships with a dimensional inspection report covering the critical features on your drawing. If you need a full dimensional report, material certificates or third party inspection, say so on the quote request and it is quoted in rather than added later.
Who is responsible if a part is out of tolerance?
We are. You bought the parts from us, not from the shop, so you do not negotiate with a factory in another country. We measure before packing so it should not reach you, and the remedy if it does is written in our terms of sale.
Are you ISO 9001 certified?
vncnc does not hold a quality certification and will not imply otherwise. Individual shops in the network may be certified, and we do not trade on their certificates. What we can show you is the audit checklist we qualify shops against, published in full, and the inspection report that ships with your parts.
Can I have a third party inspect before shipment?
Yes. Name the inspection company in your quote request and it is scheduled into the lead time. We will not present a third party inspection as a substitute for our own checks.
